Working principle of electric-optic liquid level switch
The electric-optic liquid level switch is mainly composed of two main parts: an infrared LED and a phototransistor, which are accurately positioned at the bottom of the sensor tip. Its working principle is mainly based on the use of a electric-optic liquid level switch sensor containing an infrared light-emitting diode and a photoelectric receiver. The light from the LED is directed into a prism on top of the sensor. When the tip is in the air, infrared light is internally reflected around the tip of the phototransistor, providing a strong optical coupling between the two. When the sensor tip is immersed in the liquid, infrared light escapes from the tip, causing the amount of light from the phototransistor to decrease, which causes the output state to change. Advantages & disadvantages of electric-optic liquid level switch
The main advantages of electric-optic liquid level switches are small size, few parts and low cost. In high pressure environments, level detection is very accurate. But they cannot be used for continuous level measurement. In addition, the electric-optic liquid level switch is not suitable for the top-mounted environment, when the electric-optic liquid level switch is installed on the top, the precision photoelectric liquid level switch may be adversely affected by moisture condensation.
